Mount Laurel School District’s Harrington Middle School and Hartford School were experiencing unusually high electric bills for facilities of similar type and size. Eneractive was contracted to study the feasibility of installing a photovoltaic system, and was also able to provide accurate construction and energy savings cost estimates that have allowed the school district to budget for the upcoming years’ capital projects. The assessment determined that a 175 kW roof-mounted PV system and a 25 kW ground mounted PV system at the Hartford site and a 285 kW roof-mounted PV system at the Harrington site will be able to yield significant savings. This combined 485 kW solar plant will generate approximately 589,218 kWh annually and save Mount Laurel approximately $88,053 in annual electric costs.
