NEW JERSEY AMERICAN WATER – CANOE BROOK

Solar Consulting and Development

New Jersey American Water contracted with Eneractive to conduct solar photovoltaic surveys on sixteen of their New Jersey locations. Many of these locations were remote and forested and contained large reservoirs as part of NJAW’s water distribution system. In Eneractive’s efforts to complete the surveys in a comprehensive manner, the team conceptualized utilizing the vast surface area of the reservoir to host the photovoltaic system. NJAW agreed and initiated a pilot project to review the potential of a floating solar photovoltaic system.

Eneractive proceeded with the design development of this revolutionary approach to solar photovoltaic installations by floating the system on an open body of water. Eneractive’s concept design and pilot project represent a truly innovative approach to solar photovoltaic and its associated energy production, the first in the United States to handle the freeze/thaw weather conditions found in the Northeast.
